The Senior Testing & Calibration Supervisor – Valves is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and continuously improving all testing and calibration operations for industrial and process valve systems. This role ensures testing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across hydrostatic, pneumatic, and specialty testing processes. The supervisor leads a team of technicians and specialists, manages equipment calibration programs, and drives quality performance in accordance with ASME, API, ISO, and customer-specific standards. The role also serves as a key interface between quality, production, and engineering teams to resolve issues and implement process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight of Testing Operations
Lead and manage all valve testing functions including pressure, leakage, and functional testing (hydrostatic, pneumatic, flow, and special applications).
Ensure all tests meet industry standards (ASME, API, AWWA, ISO) and customer-specific technical specifications.
Direct the planning and allocation of personnel and equipment resources to meet project timelines and production demands.
Calibration & Compliance Leadership
Oversee the facility’s calibration system for gauges, sensors, instruments, and test rigs in alignment with ISO 17025 or equivalent quality systems.
Ensure traceability and documentation compliance for all test and calibration procedures.
Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent, auditable results.
Team Development & Performance Management
Lead and mentor a team of calibration and testing technicians across shifts and/or locations.
Evaluate technician competency, develop training plans, and promote a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
Support internal and external audits by presenting test processes, documentation, and calibration records.
Continuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Analyze test performance data and quality trends to identify improvement opportunities in cycle time, accuracy, and cost.
Work closely with engineering to validate new test procedures, fixtures, and prototype valve performance.
Partner with quality and manufacturing to drive defect reduction, improve throughput, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Key Focus Areas:
Leadership of all valve testing and calibration functions
Enforcement of ASME/API/ISO test compliance and traceability
Management of calibration schedules, tools, and documentation
Cross-functional collaboration with QA, design, and operations
Training and development of test technicians and leads
Implementation of lean and continuous improvement practices
Support for audits, technical reviews, and customer inspections
