The Mid-Level Testing & Calibration Supervisor – Valves is responsible for managing daily operations within the valve testing and calibration area, ensuring compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures. This role supervises a team of technicians, coordinates testing schedules, and ensures that all equipment and processes deliver accurate, traceable, and reliable results for hydrostatic, pneumatic, and flow testing of valve systems. The supervisor also collaborates with engineering, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot issues and improve test efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision & Workflow Management
Lead daily operations of the valve testing and calibration area, ensuring efficient throughput and accurate documentation.
Assign and monitor work tasks for technicians, ensuring alignment with production goals and quality expectations.
Train team members on procedures, safety, and equipment operation.
Testing & Calibration Execution
Oversee the execution of hydrostatic, pneumatic, and flow tests for a variety of valve types (relief, control, isolation, etc.).
Ensure proper calibration of testing equipment, gauges, and sensors in accordance with ISO, ANSI, or ASME standards.
Validate that all test results meet customer and regulatory requirements.
Quality & Compliance
Maintain strict compliance with internal procedures, industry codes (ASME, API, AWWA), and traceability protocols.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for test failures or calibration discrepancies.
Work closely with quality assurance to improve inspection processes and documentation accuracy.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Identify opportunities for test procedure optimization, cycle time reduction, and error-proofing.
Track and report performance metrics such as test throughput, calibration cycle time, and first-pass yield.
Support the implementation of lean and 5S practices in the test/calibration environment.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, or a related field
Calibration or quality certification (e.g., ISO 17025, ASQ) is an advantage
Experience:
3–6 years of experience in valve testing, calibration, or related mechanical QA/testing roles
Supervisory or lead technician experience in a manufacturing/testing environment preferred
Technical Skills:
Solid knowledge of valve functions and pressure/flow testing equipment
Familiarity with standards such as ASME B16.34, API 598, AWWA, and related test codes
Competency with data acquisition tools, calibration certificates, and digital documentation systems
Soft Skills:
Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
Attention to detail and commitment to procedural accuracy
Analytical problem-solving with a continuous improvement mindset
Effective communication and cross-departmental collaboration
