We are looking for an experienced Test & Balance Technician with NEBB or NCI certification to independently perform HVAC system testing, air and water balancing, and commissioning verification in a power plant environment. This role demands solid technical expertise in TAB procedures, equipment calibration, and performance diagnostics to ensure HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and meet design specifications.
HVAC Testing & Balancing
Independently conduct airflow and hydronic system testing and balancing using specialized instruments such as flow hoods, manometers, pitot tubes, temperature sensors, and data loggers.
Analyze system performance data to identify imbalances, leaks, or malfunctions in air handling units, chillers, pumps, ductwork, and VAV systems.
Adjust dampers, valves, and control settings to optimize HVAC system efficiency and compliance with project specifications.
Commissioning & Performance Verification
Lead HVAC commissioning support by verifying system functionality, equipment operation, and control sequences during start-up and routine inspections.
Collaborate with commissioning engineers, controls technicians, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and resolve system performance issues.
Document findings and suggest corrective actions to enhance system reliability and energy efficiency.
Equipment Management & Calibration
Calibrate and maintain TAB instruments and measurement devices ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Train junior TAB technicians on proper use and care of test equipment.
Maintain detailed logs for calibration, maintenance, and equipment inventory.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare comprehensive TAB reports, including data analysis, field notes, and system performance summaries.
Update and maintain accurate balancing sheets, HVAC system drawings, and commissioning documentation.
Support compliance audits by providing detailed records and technical explanations.
Safety & Standards Compliance
Ensure all TAB activities comply with NEBB/NCI standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and plant safety policies.
Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures while working on mechanical and electrical equipment.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the TAB team.
Mentorship & Training
Mentor and guide junior TAB technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.
Participate in ongoing professional development and certification renewals.
Stay updated on industry best practices, technologies, and regulatory changes.

Education:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or related field
NEBB or NCI Certified TAB Technician (required)
Experience:
2–5 years of hands-on experience in HVAC TAB within power plants, commercial, or industrial settings
Proven ability to perform independent TAB work and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
