The System Calibration Technician – Temperature Sensors (Mid-Level) is responsible for executing accurate calibration, installation, and validation of temperature sensing systems in support of thermal, HVAC, and powertrain development activities. This role involves configuring thermocouples, RTDs, and digital sensors for vehicle and bench applications, ensuring high-quality temperature data acquisition across various test environments. The technician works with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, refine sensor layouts, and maintain calibration traceability while mentoring junior staff and contributing to lab best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform precise calibration of temperature sensors using NIST-traceable references and temperature calibration equipment.
Install and verify sensor performance across test benches, vehicle platforms, and environmental chambers.
Support development and validation programs by ensuring robust sensor operation during dynamic test cycles and transient thermal conditions.
Interface with data acquisition systems to configure input channels, scaling, and sensor diagnostics.
Troubleshoot sensor faults, signal anomalies, or data integrity issues using electrical and software tools.
Document sensor installation layouts, calibration results, and traceability logs per project and regulatory requirements.
Assist in defining test procedures related to sensor calibration and ensure their consistent application across programs.
Mentor junior technicians on sensor handling, routing practices, and calibration equipment usage.
Contribute to continuous improvement of lab processes related to sensor reliability, repeatability, and system integration.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field
Calibration or instrumentation training/certification preferred
Experience:
3–5 years of experience in temperature sensor calibration, vehicle testing, or lab-based thermal development
Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, powertrain thermal validation, or battery cooling applications is a plus
Technical Skills:
Proficient with thermocouple calibration systems, temperature baths, and DAQ configuration (e.g., NI, HBM, Dewesoft)
Familiarity with ISO 17025 or similar quality frameworks for calibration and traceability
Ability to interpret schematics, sensor routing diagrams, and technical test plans
Soft Skills:
