Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Structural Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, coordination, and execution of structural engineering works for various construction and infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all structural elements meet safety standards, performance criteria, and client specifications while remaining cost-effective and constructible. The Structural Manager leads a team of engineers and collaborates with architects, MEP teams, and contractors to deliver technically sound and code-compliant structures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage structural engineering design from concept through detailed design and construction stages.

  • Review and approve structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.

  • Ensure designs comply with local building codes, international standards, and project requirements.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including architecture, geotechnical, and MEP to ensure design integration.

  • Provide technical support during construction, including site inspections and issue resolution.

  • Conduct value engineering and feasibility assessments for proposed structural solutions.

  • Oversee the preparation of tender documentation, BOQs, and material specifications.

  • Monitor structural performance and compliance during site execution and project handover.

  • Guide and mentor junior structural engineers and draughtsmen.

  • Report regularly to senior management on progress, risks, and technical issues.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is an advantage.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in structural engineering, including high-rise, industrial, or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of design codes (e.g., ACI, BS, Eurocodes).

  • Proficient in structural analysis and design software (e.g., ETABS, SAFE, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, Revit Structure).


Preferred Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tight deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for constructability and safety.

  • Experience in both steel and concrete structure design and supervision.

  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and coordination tools is a plus.
