Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Structural Assembly Supervisor to lead and manage complex structural assembly operations. This role involves planning, supervising, and optimizing the assembly of heavy fabricated structures and components while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and delivery standards. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a track record of driving efficiency and quality on the shop floor.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Assembly Oversight

  • Lead and coordinate structural assembly activities, including sub-assemblies and final assemblies.

  • Define assembly sequences, allocate workforce, and ensure daily targets are achieved.

  • Supervise high-precision structural fits, large weldments, and load-bearing assemblies.

2. Technical Leadership

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, welding symbols, and customer specifications.

  • Provide solutions for structural alignment, distortion control, joint preparation, and fitment issues.

  • Ensure proper selection of tools, jigs, fasteners, and lifting methods based on structural design.

3. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Liaise with design, fabrication, welding, machining, and quality departments to ensure timely job flow.

  • Participate in design for assembly (DFA) reviews and provide feedback to engineering teams.

  • Monitor critical path assemblies and manage changes or rework in coordination with project teams.

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure assemblies meet design intent, dimensional tolerances, and structural integrity.

  • Supervise inspection readiness, pre-weld and post-assembly checks, and customer audits.

  • Enforce adherence to industry standards such as ISO, ASME, AWS, or customer-specific norms.

5. Safety, Efficiency & 5S

  • Maintain a culture of safety and discipline on the shop floor.

  • Drive 5S, visual management, and lean practices to improve efficiency and minimize rework.

  • Lead tool audits, preventive maintenance of assembly equipment, and housekeeping.

6. Team Management & Development

  • Manage and mentor a team of supervisors, fitters, and helpers.

  • Conduct skill assessments and training for assembly techniques, drawing interpretation, and safety.

  • Support workforce planning, performance evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Fabrication / Structural Engineering.

  • 8+ years of experience in structural or mechanical assembly, with at least 3 years in a senior supervisory role.

  • Expert in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld specifications.

  • Familiarity with large or precision assemblies in industries such as heavy engineering, infrastructure, transportation, or industrial machinery.

  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and reporting tools for production tracking.

Work Environment:

  • Heavy fabrication and assembly shop floor with overhead cranes, welding, and fit-up stations.

  • Involves supervision of high-tonnage or high-precision structural components.

  • Mandatory use of PPE and compliance with all safety and environmental standards.
