Job Title: Shutdown/Outage Mechanical Supervisor 

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and technically sound Junior Mechanical Supervisor to support shutdown and outage activities focused on valves and pressure vessels. This role is ideal for candidates with 1–3 years of mechanical maintenance experience who are looking to develop their supervisory skills in a high-paced, project-based environment. The successful candidate will assist in coordinating field teams, ensuring work is executed safely, and supporting quality and compliance during critical maintenance windows.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Supervision & Support

  • Assist in supervising mechanical crews during planned shutdowns and outages involving valve overhauls and vessel inspections.

  • Monitor daily progress of field activities and ensure adherence to job plans and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate tool and material readiness for valve and vessel jobs in collaboration with the planning team.

Valve & Vessel Maintenance Assistance

  • Support isolation, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of various industrial valves and pressure vessels under the guidance of senior supervisors.

  • Verify gasket replacement, flange torquing, nozzle inspections, and related vessel work activities.

  • Ensure compliance with procedures for internal cleaning, hydrotesting, and re-commissioning.

Safety & Compliance

  • Participate in toolbox talks, permit-to-work processes, and job safety analyses (JSAs).

  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safety gear by all team members on site.

  • Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents promptly to the HSE team or senior supervisor.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between field technicians, planners, and QA/QC personnel.

  • Track daily work status and support the preparation of job completion reports.

  • Provide updates to shutdown coordinators regarding progress, delays, and manpower needs.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Assist with documentation of valve and vessel maintenance activities, including photos, checklists, and test records.

  • Support the verification of post-maintenance test results and tag completion.

  • Maintain logs of daily manpower, equipment use, and completed tasks.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance or support roles, ideally involving valves, vessels, or pressure equipment.

  • Exposure to plant shutdowns, outages, or TARs (Turnarounds) is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of industrial valves, pressure vessels, piping systems, and mechanical tools.

  • Ability to read basic engineering drawings (P&IDs, isometrics) and work permits.

  • Familiarity with safety procedures such as LOTO, confined space entry, and hot work permits.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Good organization and time management.

  • Willingness to work extended hours and shifts during shutdown periods.

Preferred (Not Mandatory):

  • Training in valve handling, pressure vessel inspection, or NDT awareness.

  • Safety certifications (OSHA 10, basic H2S, work-at-height, etc.).
