We are seeking an experienced and skilled Mid-Level Sheet Metal Forming Specialist to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in forming operations such as bending, punching, stamping, and rolling of sheet metal components. You will be responsible for operating forming machines, ensuring dimensional accuracy, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in fabrication processes.
Operate and monitor sheet metal forming machines including press brakes, power shears, rollers, and punch presses.
Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and fabrication instructions.
Ensure precise forming according to design specifications and tolerances.
Set up and calibrate tools and dies for forming operations.
Adjust machine settings to accommodate different materials and part geometries.
Conduct routine maintenance checks to keep machines in proper working condition.
Conduct in-process and post-forming inspections using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
Identify and correct defects or deviations from specifications.
Work closely with quality assurance personnel to maintain standards and documentation.
Recommend and implement improvements to forming processes to increase efficiency, reduce scrap, and improve consistency.
Support lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives on the shop floor.
Assist in developing forming sequences and tooling solutions for new products.
Coordinate with design and production engineering teams to review and resolve fabrication challenges.
Train junior team members on best practices and safety procedures.
Support documentation of work procedures and forming guidelines.
Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Sheet Metal Technology, or related field.
3–5 years of hands-on experience in sheet metal forming/fabrication.
Proficiency with operating and setting up press brakes, rollers, and forming equipment.
Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and tolerances (including GD&T).
Knowledge of different sheet metal materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and their forming characteristics.
Good understanding of workplace safety, machine maintenance, and quality control standards.
