The Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer – Water Infrastructure is responsible for designing, evaluating, and managing mechanical systems associated with water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role includes preparing technical documentation, overseeing vendor deliverables, supporting procurement and construction, and ensuring designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with relevant standards. The position involves cross-functional collaboration with civil, electrical, and process teams.
Design mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and pipeline networks.
Perform detailed hydraulic and mechanical calculations (e.g., pressure loss, pump head, flow rates).
Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, equipment datasheets, and layout drawings.
Evaluate and select pumps, valves, compressors, blowers, and mechanical equipment.
Review vendor submittals and ensure compliance with project requirements and codes.
Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
Conduct site visits, field inspections, and resolve technical issues on site.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants and contractors.
Mechanical Design of Water & Wastewater Systems (pumping stations, pipelines, valves, etc.)
Hydraulic Calculations and Pump Selection
Preparation and Review of Technical Specifications and Datasheets
Coordination with Vendors, Contractors, and Multidisciplinary Teams
Familiarity with Codes and Standards (AWWA, ASME, API, ISO, etc.)
Support During Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning
Field Troubleshooting and Engineering Support
Development of Operation & Maintenance Manuals and As-Built Documentation
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
4–8 years of experience in water infrastructure or utility mechanical systems
Proficient in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, or similar design tools
Working knowledge of pump systems, piping, valves, and mechanical design codes
Experience in vendor coordination, submittal review, and field support
Knowledge of CMMS or asset management systems is a plus
Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills
Attention to detail and accuracy in design and documentation
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines
Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills
Field adaptability and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
