The Junior Mechanical Engineer – Sanitary Valves supports the engineering team in the design, selection, and validation of sanitary valve systems used in hygienic food and beverage processing environments. This entry-level role focuses on ensuring valve components meet hygienic design standards, function reliably in CIP/SIP systems, and comply with food safety regulations. The engineer assists with technical documentation, vendor evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration to support plant operations and capital projects.
Assist in the design and specification of sanitary valves such as butterfly, diaphragm, and mixproof valves for food-grade applications.
Support modifications and improvements to valve designs to enhance hygienic performance and ease of maintenance.
Help verify that valve materials and designs comply with 3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA regulations, and internal food safety requirements.
Support validation activities related to valve cleanability, drainability, and product contact surfaces.
Assist in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, material certifications, and validation records.
Help review vendor datasheets and technical submittals to ensure compliance with specifications.
Work closely with process engineers, maintenance teams, and quality assurance to support valve installations, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
Communicate with valve suppliers to clarify design requirements and resolve technical queries.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, or related field
0–2 years of engineering experience, internships or co-op experience in food or sanitary equipment manufacturing preferred
Basic knowledge of sanitary valve types and hygienic design principles
Familiarity with 3-A Sanitary Standards and FDA food contact regulations a plus
Proficiency in CAD software and technical drawing interpretation
Good communication and teamwork skills
Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
