The Junior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design supports the development and documentation of HVAC system layouts, component sizing, and mechanical specifications for residential, commercial, or industrial applications. Working under the supervision of senior engineers or project leads, the role involves drafting, basic design calculations, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant and efficient HVAC systems.
Assist in designing HVAC system components such as ductwork, piping, air handling units, coils, and terminal devices.
Create and update mechanical drawings, 2D/3D models, and equipment layouts using CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks).
Generate bill of materials (BOM), equipment schedules, and fabrication details for production or construction teams.
Perform basic load calculations, pressure drop estimations, and airflow sizing using industry tools (e.g., HAP, TRACE, Excel).
Support the selection of fans, pumps, chillers, diffusers, and other HVAC equipment based on application requirements.
Assist in the preparation of design submittals, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance checklists.
Work closely with senior engineers, drafters, and product teams to deliver accurate and timely designs.
Coordinate with electrical, controls, and structural teams to integrate HVAC systems into complete project designs.
Participate in design review meetings and respond to redlines or revisions.
Ensure all designs adhere to relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and local building codes.
Follow company processes for version control, documentation, and quality checks.
Contribute to internal libraries, design templates, and best-practice documentation.
