We are looking for a highly experienced and technically strong Senior Mechanical Engineer – Fabrication to lead and oversee the development and execution of mechanical fabrication projects. This role focuses on advanced mechanical design, optimization of fabrication processes, and technical leadership. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in metal fabrication, DFM principles, material selection, and leading engineering initiatives from concept to production.
Lead design and development of fabricated mechanical components and assemblies.
Develop high-quality 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using advanced CAD tools.
Review and approve technical drawings to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.
Apply expert-level DFM/DFA principles to reduce cost, improve quality, and simplify production.
Work closely with fabrication and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless translation of design into production.
Drive continuous design optimization based on real-world feedback and performance.
Analyze, define, and improve fabrication processes including welding, machining, forming, and sheet metal work.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and quality issues.
Develop tooling, fixtures, and jigs to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
Lead multi-disciplinary engineering projects and coordinate with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, procurement).
Support vendor selection and qualification for fabricated components.
Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers and drafters.
Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, safety, and quality standards (e.g., ASME, ISO, ASTM).
Maintain complete and accurate engineering documentation, BOMs, and process records.
Support audits, reviews, and technical presentations as needed.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
7+ years of experience in mechanical design and fabrication engineering, preferably in heavy industry, industrial machinery, or precision fabrication.
Strong proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD).
Deep knowledge of fabrication processes: CNC machining, welding, sheet metal, structural steel, etc.
Expertise in GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and material specification.
Familiarity with FEA/CAE tools and simulation-driven design.
