We are seeking a motivated and technically inclined Junior HVAC Engineer to support the design, operation, and maintenance of HVAC systems in a power plant environment. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers looking to gain hands-on experience with thermal systems, cooling technologies, and industrial ventilation in a mission-critical setting.
System Operation & Support
Assist in the day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of HVAC equipment including chillers, air handling units (AHUs), cooling towers, exhaust systems, and pumps.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of basic HVAC operational issues under guidance from senior engineers.
Monitor temperature, humidity, and airflow conditions across various plant zones using control system interfaces.
Design & Engineering Assistance
Participate in the review and update of HVAC system drawings, equipment layouts, and ductwork designs.
Support sizing calculations for ducts, piping, and ventilation loads using basic engineering principles.
Assist with technical specifications, datasheet preparation, and component selection for replacement or upgrade projects.
Testing, Inspection & Commissioning
Support pre-startup inspections, equipment testing, and basic commissioning activities.
Participate in HVAC system performance evaluations and report deviations from expected conditions.
Aid in data collection for thermal performance tracking and efficiency benchmarking.
Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
Help maintain HVAC equipment logs, service records, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Support compliance with safety and environmental guidelines during HVAC servicing and operations.
Contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs), O&M manuals, and risk assessments.
Collaboration & Learning
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and control systems teams to understand plant-wide interdependencies.
Participate in internal training sessions on industrial HVAC design, thermodynamics, and energy efficiency.
Stay informed about HVAC codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, SMACNA).
Assist in HVAC operations, maintenance, and system monitoring
Support design modifications and upgrade projects
Participate in equipment inspections and testing
Develop documentation and technical records
Gain foundational knowledge in HVAC system performance
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Thermal Systems, or a related discipline
Certifications (Preferred or Willing to Obtain):
Basic HVAC certification or ASHRAE training is a plus
Familiarity with safety certifications such as OSHA or HAZOP is beneficial
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, or design (internship or co-op experience acceptable)
Exposure to HVAC systems in industrial or plant settings preferred
Skills:
Basic understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics
Familiarity with HVAC components: chillers, AHUs, dampers, fans, etc.
Proficient in MS Excel and AutoCAD (or equivalent drafting tools)
Willingness to work in field and mechanical spaces
Strong teamwork, eagerness to learn, and attention to safety
