The Senior Safety Officer is responsible for leading and managing on-site health, safety, and environmental activities to ensure strict compliance with legal requirements and company safety standards. This role involves supervising junior safety staff, conducting advanced risk assessments, managing incident investigations, and ensuring a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Develop and implement HSE plans, policies, and site-specific safety procedures.
Supervise and mentor junior safety officers and ensure consistent safety enforcement.
Conduct advanced risk assessments, safety audits, and root cause analyses.
Lead investigations into accidents, near-misses, and non-compliance events, and recommend corrective actions.
Ensure full compliance with local regulatory requirements, ISO standards, and company HSE policies.
Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and staff training programs.
Monitor high-risk activities (e.g., working at heights, lifting operations, confined space) and ensure proper controls are in place.
Coordinate with construction teams, contractors, and external auditors during inspections.
Maintain detailed safety documentation and prepare weekly/monthly safety performance reports.
Promote a proactive safety culture through awareness campaigns and incentive programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
NEBOSH IGC, OSHA certification, or equivalent HSE qualifications (Advanced level preferred).
5–10 years of HSE experience in construction, oil & gas, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
Strong understanding of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Strong analytical and reporting abilities.
Capable of handling emergency situations and conducting incident investigations.
Proficiency in HSE documentation, software tools, and MS Office Suite.
Ability to influence and enforce safety compliance across all levels of workforce.
