The Senior SIS Supervisor leads the operation, maintenance, and compliance of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) across the power plant. This role ensures full adherence to functional safety standards (IEC 61508/61511), oversees proof testing and SIL verification, and manages a team of technicians and engineers. The role is strategic and technical, requiring deep knowledge of process safety, reliability engineering, and safety lifecycle management.
Leadership in Safety Lifecycle Management – Drive end-to-end implementation and governance of SIS compliance across design, validation, operation, and maintenance.
SIL Compliance Enforcement – Ensure all safety loops meet required Safety Integrity Levels (SILs) through scheduled testing, functional checks, and documentation.
Shutdown Management & Emergency Systems – Lead planning and supervision of SIS activities during major shutdowns, start-ups, and emergency situations.
Root Cause Analysis & Reliability Engineering – Oversee investigations into SIS-related failures or spurious trips, and implement preventive measures.
Team Development & Supervision – Manage and mentor SIS teams; ensure adherence to best practices and technical excellence.
Integration with Plant Systems – Coordinate closely with DCS/PLC automation teams and safety engineers to ensure seamless SIS integration and operation.
Audit Readiness & Regulatory Compliance – Ensure readiness for third-party audits, internal inspections, and maintain all SIS-related documentation up to standard.
Lead the supervision of all SIS maintenance activities and proof testing cycles.
Review and validate all SIS documentation, including Cause & Effect matrices, Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS), and test records.
Supervise configuration, diagnostics, and programming of safety PLCs (e.g., Triconex, HIMA, DeltaV SIS).
Plan and manage SIS activities during plant outages and commissioning phases.
Conduct SIL verification analysis and review loop performance data for continuous improvement.
Provide technical direction in compliance with IEC 61508/61511 and HAZOP/LOPA recommendations.
Coordinate with OEMs, regulatory bodies, and internal auditors on SIS strategy and implementation.
Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
8–12 years of experience in SIS systems within power generation, oil & gas, or process industries.
Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP) or equivalent is highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and relevant safety instrumented systems standards.
Expertise in safety PLC platforms such as Triconex, HIMA, Yokogawa ProSafe, DeltaV SIS.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
Expert-level troubleshooting of safety instrumented systems and logic solvers.
Advanced understanding of functional safety engineering and system diagnostics.
Excellent documentation, compliance tracking, and communication skills.
