Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Junior SIS Supervisor assists in maintaining and supervising safety instrumented systems (SIS) that protect critical plant operations. The role supports the configuration, inspection, and testing of safety loops, ensuring compliance with safety integrity levels (SIL) and plant safety standards under the guidance of senior engineers.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Support Safety Loop Maintenance – Assist in routine maintenance, inspection, and partial stroke testing of SIS components (e.g., sensors, logic solvers, final elements).

  • Documentation & Compliance – Maintain updated documentation, loop test records, and SIL compliance data.

  • System Testing Support – Participate in functional safety testing, emergency shutdown system (ESD) verifications, and trip logic validations.

  • Collaboration with HSE – Work closely with HSE teams to ensure SIS performance aligns with plant safety objectives.

  • Technical Reporting – Assist in preparing safety test reports, failure analysis summaries, and maintenance logs.

  • Learning Advanced Safety Protocols – Develop understanding of IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 standards and how they apply to power plant instrumentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in monitoring the performance and reliability of SIS components and logic controllers (e.g., Safety PLCs).

  • Support preventive and corrective maintenance for SIS loops including sensor calibration and logic solver checks.

  • Participate in plant shutdown testing and validation of ESD systems.

  • Log instrument test data and assist in failure investigations under the direction of senior personnel.

  • Follow strict safety and LOTO procedures during all field activities.

  • Ensure test and maintenance tools are functional and calibrated.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Control Engineering.

  • 1–3 years of experience in power plants, oil & gas, or industrial automation with exposure to SIS or ESD systems.

  • Basic understanding of safety instrumented systems and SIL classifications.
