We are looking for a Junior SCADA & RTU Field Technician to support the installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of SCADA, RTU, PLC, HMI, and field instrumentation systems. The ideal candidate should have a basic understanding of industrial automation and control systems and be willing to work at field sites under the supervision of senior engineers/technicians.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of SCADA and RTU systems.
- Support senior technicians in troubleshooting PLC, RTU, HMI, and SCADA systems.
- Perform basic I/O checking and signal verification between field devices, RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA.
- Assist with checking digital and analog signals.
- Support troubleshooting of communication issues between PLC/RTU and SCADA systems.
- Assist with configuration and testing of SCADA tags, alarms, trends, and displays.
- Assist in testing communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, or Ethernet/IP.
- Support field testing of sensors, switches, transmitters, control valves, and other instrumentation.
- Assist with loop checking and functional testing during commissioning.
- Carry out basic troubleshooting of control panels, RTU panels, PLC panels, and communication equipment.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Record test results, maintenance activities, and site observations.
- Prepare basic technical reports, checklists, and commissioning documents.
- Coordinate with instrumentation, electrical, and automation teams.
- Follow all company HSE and site safety procedures.
Technical Requirements
- Basic knowledge of SCADA systems.
- Basic knowledge of RTU and PLC systems.
- Understanding of HMI/SCADA operation.
- Basic knowledge of digital and analog I/O.
- Understanding of 24V DC control circuits.
- Basic knowledge of field instrumentation and sensors.
- Ability to read basic electrical/control/instrumentation drawings.
- Basic knowledge of industrial communication networks.
- Knowledge of Siemens PLC/TIA Portal is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, Profinet, or Ethernet communication is an advantage.
- Basic troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel and technical documentation.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Instrumentation Engineering
- Automation & Control Engineering
- Mechatronics
- or a related technical field.
Experience
- 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Fresh graduates with good knowledge of PLC/SCADA/RTU may be considered.
- Candidates with industrial training, internship, or academic projects involving automation systems are preferred.
