The Senior SCADA Field I/O Technician is a key technical expert responsible for the execution, oversight, and quality assurance of SCADA-related field I/O infrastructure. This role ensures end-to-end signal integrity from sensors and actuators to SCADA/HMI platforms. The technician will lead field commissioning activities, resolve complex I/O issues, and mentor junior technicians.
Lead and execute field-level I/O installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Ensure reliable data transfer between SCADA systems and field devices (analog/digital).
Perform detailed loop checks and root cause analysis on signal discrepancies.
Interface with PLC/DCS systems for signal tracing and diagnostics.
Collaborate with engineering and IT/OT teams on tag mapping and SCADA integration.
Review and redline wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and control schematics.
Guide and supervise junior field technicians during site execution.
Support audits, FAT/SAT, and control system handover activities.
Advanced Signal Integrity & Diagnostics
Detect, isolate, and resolve complex wiring or signal noise issues
Validate signal quality using loop calibrators, HART communicators, and multimeters
SCADA–Field Interface Management
Cross-functional coordination with control room and SCADA programmers
Ensure data accuracy and tag consistency across multiple systems
Documentation and Redlining
Maintain up-to-date terminal schedules, I/O lists, and signal traceability sheets
Support documentation for regulatory and QA compliance
I/O Commissioning Leadership
Plan and lead I/O loop checks during new installations, expansions, or shutdowns
Prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate with electrical contractors
Team Mentorship & Quality Assurance
Supervise junior technicians on best practices in wiring, labeling, and testing
Enforce safety standards and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
Education:
Diploma or Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or Mechatronics
Experience:
5–10 years in SCADA-based field I/O roles in industrial environments
Technical Skills:
Proficient in:
Loop and function testing
Analog/digital I/O verification
Wiring standards (IS/IEC), panel troubleshooting
Exposure to PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider, etc.)
SCADA platforms (Wonderware, WinCC, iFIX, Citect, etc.)
Soft Skills:
Leadership qualities, proactive problem solving, and ability to manage site teams
Clear communication with engineers, vendors, and operations staff
Strong documentation and reporting capabilities
