The Mid-Level SCADA Field I/O Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of field-level I/O devices and their integration with SCADA systems. This role plays a key part in signal integrity assurance, loop checking, field diagnostics, and system reliability across production, utility, or infrastructure control systems.
Perform installation, termination, and labeling of field instruments and I/O wiring.
Conduct loop checks and signal verification for analog and digital I/O points.
Support commissioning, tag validation, and system integration with control rooms.
Diagnose issues with field devices, signal loss, wiring faults, or SCADA mapping errors.
Interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs, loop drawings, and panel layouts.
Coordinate with engineers, integrators, and SCADA teams during upgrades or shutdowns.
Document wiring changes, loop test results, and device configurations.
Ensure compliance with site safety and electrical standards.
Advanced Loop Testing & Troubleshooting
Independently test and diagnose:
4–20 mA loops, 0–10V signals
DI/DO faults, field-to-panel mismatches
SCADA data mismatches
Field-to-SCADA Signal Validation
Validate correct tag addressing and signal reflection on HMI/SCADA
Coordinate with SCADA teams during point mapping or tag updates
Wiring & Termination Integrity
Execute high-quality wiring for analog/digital inputs and outputs
Labeling, cable routing, shielding, and earthing in panels and field junction boxes
Preventive Maintenance & Calibration Support
Periodic inspection of sensors and wiring integrity
Assist calibration team with signal stability checks
Documentation & Change Control
Maintain redline drawings, terminal lists, and loop folders
Support updates to I/O databases and tag registers during changes
