Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

The Mid-Level SCADA/Telemetry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and performance of SCADA and telemetry systems that control and monitor critical laboratory utility infrastructure. The role includes supervision of technicians, configuration of system parameters, handling of alarms, and coordination of upgrades in a regulated laboratory environment. This position ensures 24/7 reliability of lab utilities including HVAC, purified water systems, compressed air, and cleanroom conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operation and maintenance of SCADA and telemetry systems across laboratory utility services.

  • Develop and implement SCADA system logic changes, display configurations, and telemetry device programming.

  • Monitor system performance and lead troubleshooting efforts for process anomalies, alarm triggers, and communication issues.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Facilities, QA, IT, and Lab Operations) to ensure system integrity and compliance.

  • Manage preventive maintenance schedules for remote I/O, RTUs, PLCs, and telemetry sensors.

  • Maintain complete documentation of configurations, changes, alarms, and preventive maintenance.

  • Support validation and change control processes in compliance with GMP, CLIA, or ISO 17025 standards.

  • Train and mentor junior SCADA technicians on diagnostics, change management, and compliance documentation.

Key Focus Areas:

  1. System Performance & Optimization

    • Ensure high uptime and optimal response times for SCADA-controlled systems such as HVAC, water purification, and clean air systems.

  2. Alarm Management & Escalation

    • Configure and validate alarm thresholds and escalation procedures to maintain safety and operational compliance.

  3. Telemetry Device Integration

    • Supervise the installation and calibration of field sensors (e.g., pressure, temperature, humidity) and ensure accurate data logging.

  4. Data Integrity & Compliance

    • Maintain audit-ready documentation, ensure data accuracy, and follow change control protocols for all SCADA/telemetry systems.

  5. SCADA Programming & Display Logic

    • Make moderate-level programming adjustments to SCADA platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, iFix) and interface layouts.

  6. Preventive Maintenance Planning

    • Oversee scheduled inspections, sensor replacements, and backups of PLC/SCADA logic to avoid unplanned downtime.

  7. Team Supervision & Training

    • Lead a team of technicians by assigning tasks, reviewing work, and ensuring continuous development on SCADA tools and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Diploma in Instrumentation, Automation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering

  • Experience:

    • 5–7 years of experience in SCADA/telemetry systems in lab, pharma, or cleanroom environments

    • 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role

  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • SCADA system certification (e.g., Ignition, Siemens WinCC, or Wonderware)

    • GMP/GLP/CLIA/EHS training

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in:

    • PLC/RTU configuration and SCADA logic (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider)

    • BMS/EMS integration

    • Telemetry signal analysis and diagnostics

    • Network protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, BACnet)
