The Mid-Level Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the performance, availability, and reliability of critical rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, blowers, motors, turbines, and gearboxes. This role supports condition monitoring, failure analysis, preventive maintenance optimization, and asset lifecycle strategies to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency. The engineer serves as a technical liaison between maintenance, engineering, and operations teams.
Conduct reliability assessments and implement strategies to extend equipment life and reduce unplanned failures.
Support the development and refinement of asset reliability plans (RCM, FMEA, MTBF, MTTR metrics).
Identify chronic equipment issues and recommend engineering solutions or upgrades.
Analyze data from vibration monitoring, oil analysis, ultrasound, thermography, and motor current signature analysis.
Recommend corrective actions based on trends and deviations from baseline conditions.
Lead or support root cause analyses (RCA) for rotating equipment failures and performance issues.
Document findings, create detailed technical reports, and implement preventive solutions.
Collaborate with planners and technicians to enhance PM and PdM strategies for rotating assets.
Develop and maintain lubrication programs, alignment procedures, and balancing standards.
Provide technical input for equipment installation, commissioning, and system upgrades.
Evaluate vendor proposals, review equipment specs, and support procurement for new or replacement rotating machinery.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
3–7 years of experience with rotating equipment reliability, condition monitoring, or maintenance engineering
Strong knowledge of pump, motor, turbine, and compressor design and failure modes
Proficiency in using reliability tools (RCM, FMEA), condition monitoring devices, and CMMS platforms
Certifications such as CMRP, ISO Category I/II Vibration Analyst (preferred)
Analytical thinking and structured problem-solving abilities
Strong technical writing, reporting, and documentation skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, and operations
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and asset lifecycle management
Knowledge of relevant standards (API 610/618, ISO 10816, ANSI/HI, ASME)
