Job Title: Rigger
Job Summary:
We are looking for an enthusiastic Fresher Rigger to join our team. As a Rigger at the entry level, you will assist in the preparation, operation, and safety of lifting and rigging activities on-site. This is a hands-on position where you will work alongside experienced riggers and other construction professionals to support the lifting and moving of heavy loads, machinery, equipment, and materials. You will receive on-the-job training, learn the essential rigging techniques, and gain the necessary skills to advance in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with Rigging Operations:
- Help in the selection and assembly of rigging gear such as ropes, cables, slings, and hoists for lifting and moving heavy objects.
- Assist in securing loads to lifting devices or cranes, ensuring the proper attachment of hooks and rigging equipment.
- Support senior riggers in lifting, moving, and placing heavy materials or equipment on-site.
Equipment Handling and Inspection:
- Ensure that rigging equipment is in good working condition by assisting in the inspection of slings, chains, hoists, and cranes.
- Learn to identify faulty or damaged rigging materials and report any issues to the supervisor.
- Assist in the proper storage and maintenance of rigging equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for rigging activities, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, safety shoes, and eye protection.
- Learn how to work in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards, especially when working with cranes or lifting machinery.
- Assist in ensuring the work area is safe, clear of hazards, and well-organized.
Communication and Teamwork:
- Communicate effectively with the crane operators, rigging team, and other workers to ensure smooth coordination of lifting and rigging tasks.
- Participate in team briefings and listen to instructions carefully to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Learn how to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the success of team tasks.
On-the-Job Training and Development:
- Participate in training programs to learn proper rigging techniques, equipment handling, and safety protocols.
- Observe and assist senior riggers to understand the rigging process and develop skills in lifting operations.
- Continuously improve your knowledge of rigging and lifting equipment to grow into more advanced roles.
Site Cleanliness and Organization:
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment by helping to clear the rigging area after lifting activities.
- Help in the safe storage of equipment and materials when not in use.
Key Focus Areas:
Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.
Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.
Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.
Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of construction or mechanical work is a plus, but not required.
Experience:
- No prior experience required, but an eagerness to learn and work in a hands-on environment is essential.
- A willingness to work in construction and industrial environments is required.
Technical Skills:
- Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical equipment (preferably some exposure through schooling or previous internships).
- Ability to learn how to handle rigging materials such as ropes, slings, and chains.
- Physical ability to assist in lifting, carrying, and securing heavy loads.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and safety.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow directions clearly.
- Willingness to learn and develop skills in the rigging field.
- Physical stamina and fitness to work in demanding conditions.
Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):
- Safety training (e.g., OSHA certification, or any basic construction safety training) is advantageous but not required.
- Rigging certification courses are a plus but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.
