The Reliability Manager – Valves and Fittings leads the plant or organization-wide program to improve reliability, uptime, and life-cycle performance of valves and pressure fittings. This role combines technical analysis, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional coordination to minimize equipment failures, enhance preventive strategies, and ensure safe operation of critical mechanical assets.
Build and implement asset-specific reliability strategies for isolation valves, control valves, safety valves, and high-pressure fittings
Define PM intervals, inspection routines, and condition monitoring protocols for all valve types
Develop and enforce asset criticality ranking and valve reliability hierarchy
Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for valve-related incidents, including leakage, sticking, or actuator malfunctions
Analyze trends using Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and downtime records
Recommend valve design upgrades, material changes, or operating practice adjustments
Collaborate with inspection, QA/QC, and integrity teams to ensure valve and fitting compliance with API/ASME codes
Support or lead risk-based inspections (RBI) and thickness measurements for pressure fittings
Monitor testing results (FAT, hydrostatic, pneumatic) and flag systemic design or vendor issues
Use CMMS (SAP, Maximo, etc.) and analytics to extract performance data, set KPI dashboards, and identify underperforming valve classes
Apply predictive analytics and AI tools (if available) to assess valve wear or actuator cycle loads
Introduce spare parts rationalization and support standardization efforts across valve families
Lead a team of valve reliability engineers, analysts, and technicians
Liaise with Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and OEMs to ensure effective asset strategies
Evaluate vendor performance based on valve quality, repair turnarounds, and field failure rates
✅ Long-term reliability of valves and associated piping connections
✅ Lifecycle cost optimization and MTBF/MTTR improvements
✅ Root cause failure analysis for valve and actuator systems
✅ Risk mitigation for safety-critical valve functions
✅ Digitalization of valve performance tracking and reliability indices
