Reliability Engineer – Fatigue and Life Analysis for Turbine Parts

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Reliability Engineer to support fatigue and life analysis activities for turbine components. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer eager to gain experience in assessing the durability and reliability of critical parts under cyclic and harsh operating conditions commonly found in aerospace, power generation, or industrial turbines.

Key Focus Areas:

    • Fatigue Analysis of Turbine Parts:
Assist in conducting fatigue life assessments using analytical and numerical methods to predict the lifespan of turbine blades, disks, and other components subjected to cyclic loading.

    • Life Prediction & Durability Modeling:
Support life estimation models and methodologies including stress-life (S-N), strain-life (ε-N), and fracture mechanics approaches.

    • Data Collection & Test Support:
Help gather, organize, and analyze test data from fatigue tests, vibration tests, and operational monitoring for reliability assessments.

    • Failure Mode Analysis:
Assist in identifying and documenting potential failure modes and their effects on turbine component reliability.

    • Software Tools & Simulation:
Gain hands-on experience using reliability and fatigue analysis software tools (e.g., FEA software, NASTRAN, ANSYS, nCode).

    • Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare test reports, technical documentation, and presentations to communicate findings to engineering teams.

    • Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work with design, materials, and testing teams to support product improvements and reliability enhancements.

Responsibilities:

    • Support fatigue and durability analysis projects under supervision.

    • Assist in performing calculations and simulations to evaluate component life.

    • Collect and analyze data from laboratory and field tests.

    • Contribute to root cause analysis of fatigue failures and support corrective actions.

    • Maintain accurate records of analysis procedures and results.

    • Participate in reliability meetings and contribute ideas for continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.

    • Basic understanding of fatigue, fracture mechanics, and reliability engineering principles.

    • Familiarity with finite element analysis and relevant software tools is a plus.

    • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

    • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

    • Willingness to learn and develop expertise in turbine component reliability.

Preferred:

    • Internship or project experience related to fatigue or durability testing.

    • Knowledge of turbine engine components and operating conditions.

    • Exposure to reliability standards and methodologies.
