We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Reliability Engineer – Boiler Systems to lead and support reliability engineering initiatives focused on boiler systems, including their auxiliary components, within industrial, utility, or power generation environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving system availability, reducing maintenance costs, and driving long-term equipment reliability strategies.
Lead the reliability engineering efforts for boiler systems including water-tube boilers, fire-tube boilers, HRSGs (Heat Recovery Steam Generators), superheaters, economizers, burners, and other associated equipment.
Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence of failures.
Analyze boiler performance data and develop predictive maintenance plans using condition monitoring and diagnostics tools (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic testing).
Develop and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategies and procedures to extend equipment life and improve system reliability.
Work closely with operations, maintenance, and process engineering teams to support troubleshooting and performance optimization.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, API, NBIC).
Support turnaround and outage planning, including inspection scopes and capital improvement recommendations.
Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to reduce downtime and enhance boiler system efficiency.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across departments.
Develop reliability KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, Availability) and report on asset health and performance.
Manage and interface with external vendors, inspection agencies, and consultants when required.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Certification in Reliability Engineering (e.g., CMRP, CRE) is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 8-10 years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or mechanical engineering roles, with at least 5 years specific to boiler systems.
Experience in heavy industries such as power generation, oil & gas, chemical, or manufacturing is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of boiler operations, design, failure modes, and maintenance strategies.
Proficiency with reliability tools such as Weibull analysis, FMEA, RCA, and reliability modeling software.
Familiarity with CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and data analytics platforms.
Strong knowledge of materials, corrosion mechanisms, and NDT techniques relevant to boilers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
