The Mid-Level Refrigeration & A/C Technician is responsible for independently performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems used in water treatment facilities. This role supports system reliability, temperature control, and environmental compliance across various plant infrastructure.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on refrigeration and A/C systems including chillers, split systems, air handlers, compressors, and related equipment.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults, and repair components such as motors, contactors, thermostats, and expansion valves.
Conduct refrigerant recovery, recharging, and leak detection in compliance with EPA 608 regulations.
Monitor and adjust system performance to maintain temperature and humidity specifications critical to plant processes.
Keep maintenance logs, refrigerant usage records, and work orders updated using CMMS or manual systems.
Ensure adherence to safety standards including LOTO, confined space entry, and PPE usage.
Collaborate with senior technicians, engineers, and plant operations staff during system evaluations or upgrades.
Mentor junior technicians as needed and participate in ongoing technical training.
Education:
Technical diploma or certification in HVAC/R or Mechanical Systems preferred
Certifications:
EPA 608 Certification required
Additional manufacturer or trade certifications a plus
Experience:
2–5 years of hands-on experience with refrigeration and air conditioning systems, preferably in industrial or water treatment environments
Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for A/C and refrigeration systems
Familiarity with chilled water loops, ventilation controls, and system balancing
Ability to read wiring diagrams and mechanical schematics
Excellent time management, safety awareness, and teamwork
