The Junior Refrigeration & A/C Technician supports the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems at water treatment facilities. This entry-level position assists in ensuring optimal environmental control across plant operations, gaining exposure to chilled water, ventilation, and dehumidification systems under the supervision of senior technicians.
Assist with inspections, basic maintenance, and repairs of refrigeration and A/C systems including chillers, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
Clean and replace filters, check refrigerant levels, and monitor system pressures.
Support refrigerant recovery and leak detection procedures in accordance with EPA guidelines.
Aid in troubleshooting basic operational issues and perform corrective actions under supervision.
Follow safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE use, and confined space entry when required.
Maintain accurate records of service calls, inspections, and refrigerant usage.
Participate in training programs focused on HVAC/R systems, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
Work collaboratively with HVAC and maintenance team members during maintenance outages or system failures.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Enrollment in or completion of HVAC/R technical program preferred
Certifications (Preferred):
EPA 608 Technician Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Experience:
0–2 years of hands-on experience in refrigeration and A/C maintenance preferred
Skills:
Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Willingness to learn refrigerant handling, system diagnostics, and safety procedures
Team player with strong communication and reliability
Good attention to detail and time management
