The Mid-Level Refrigeration Technician (HVAC-R) is responsible for independently installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing refrigeration and HVAC systems. This role requires solid technical knowledge of refrigeration cycles, components, and control systems, as well as adherence to safety and environmental regulations. The technician also supports continuous improvement of service processes and occasionally mentors junior staff.
Independently perform installation and preventive maintenance of refrigeration units, compressors, condensers, evaporators, piping, and associated HVAC-R equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system faults in refrigeration systems.
Test and recharge refrigerant levels, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Assist in commissioning and start-up of new refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
Conduct detailed diagnostics using specialized HVAC-R tools and instruments.
Identify root causes of system failures and perform necessary repairs or replacements efficiently.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve recurring technical issues.
Adhere to OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements related to refrigerants handling and system safety.
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records, ensuring proper documentation of repairs and inspections.
Participate in safety training and lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment.
Provide guidance and technical support to junior refrigeration technicians.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and service quality.
Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Technical diploma or certification in HVAC-R technology or refrigeration preferred

Proficiency with HVAC-R diagnostic and repair tools
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to refrigerants
