The Junior Refrigeration Technician (HVAC-R) supports the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration and HVAC systems. This entry-level role involves hands-on work under supervision, learning industry best practices, safety standards, and developing technical skills related to refrigerants, compressors, and cooling systems.
Assist in installing refrigeration and HVAC components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and piping systems.
Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting electrical components.
Support senior technicians during system start-ups, shutdowns, and diagnostics.
Help identify and diagnose basic faults in refrigeration systems under supervision.
Replace faulty components and repair leaks, electrical wiring, and controls as directed.
Use basic HVAC-R tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
Follow all safety protocols, including handling refrigerants in accordance with environmental regulations and safety guidelines.
Participate in safety training sessions and report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
Maintain accurate service records and report work progress to supervisors.
Communicate effectively with team members and support coordination of service tasks.

High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Technical training or certification in HVAC-R technology or refrigeration preferred
0–1 year of experience in refrigeration or HVAC-R roles (internship, apprenticeship, or entry-level preferred)
Basic knowledge of refrigeration principles and HVAC-R components
Ability to use hand tools and basic diagnostic instruments
Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully
