The Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer is a technical leader responsible for directing the design, development, and validation of advanced automotive refrigeration and heat pump systems. This role leads complex thermal management projects to optimize refrigerant circuits, improve system efficiency, and ensure compliance with evolving environmental regulations. The senior engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams including HVAC design, vehicle integration, and suppliers to drive innovation and resolve critical technical challenges. Mentorship of engineering staff and contribution to strategic technology direction are key aspects of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, design, and optimization of automotive refrigeration and heat pump systems, focusing on performance, reliability, and environmental compliance.
Direct detailed modeling, simulation, and analysis of refrigerant flow, heat transfer, pressure drops, and system dynamics using advanced tools and techniques.
Oversee prototype development, system integration, and validation testing to ensure robust product performance and regulatory adherence.
Collaborate closely with HVAC system design, vehicle integration, and supplier management teams to align technical objectives and ensure manufacturability.
Identify and resolve complex technical issues impacting refrigeration system performance or vehicle-level integration.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging emerging refrigerant technologies and industry best practices.
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
Provide strategic input into thermal system engineering roadmaps and participate in technology scouting and innovation activities.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field required
Experience:
7+ years of experience in automotive refrigeration systems, HVAC thermal management, or related fields
Proven leadership in managing complex engineering projects and cross-disciplinary collaboration
Technical Skills:
Expert proficiency with refrigeration cycle modeling, CFD, and thermal system simulation tools
Deep knowledge of refrigerants, heat pump technologies, and system components
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and environmental standards related to refrigerants
Experience with prototype testing, system validation, and root cause analysis
