We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Senior Refrigeration Mechanic to lead the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of refrigeration systems in a food and beverage facility. The role is critical in maintaining temperature control, equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and food safety compliance.
The ideal candidate will take ownership of refrigeration assets such as cold rooms, freezers, chillers, compressors, and CO₂/ammonia systems, while mentoring junior staff, supporting audits, and contributing to utility cost reduction efforts.
Lead the daily operation and monitoring of industrial refrigeration systems (R404a, ammonia, CO₂, etc.).
Ensure all temperature-critical zones (e.g., cold storage, processing lines, blast chillers) operate within set parameters.
Respond promptly to system alarms, sensor faults, and refrigeration irregularities.
Execute and supervise preventive maintenance for compressors, evaporators, valves, fans, heat exchangers, and control systems.
Perform root cause analysis of refrigeration breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
Manage refrigerant charging, leak testing, pressure testing, and oil level checks in compliance with environmental standards.
Ensure full compliance with GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and local refrigerant handling regulations.
Maintain service logs, refrigerant usage records, leak test reports, and calibration data using CMMS or logbooks.
Support internal and external audits by providing complete documentation and system reports.
Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and system upgrades.
Monitor compressor load cycles and condenser/evaporator efficiency for performance optimization.
Participate in equipment selection, design modifications, and vendor evaluations for new installations.
Mentor and guide junior refrigeration technicians during complex repairs or overhauls.
Support the training and development of the refrigeration team in best practices and safety protocols.
Coordinate with production, QA, engineering, and third-party service providers.
