We are looking for a skilled and reliable Mid-Level Refrigeration Mechanic to handle the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial refrigeration systems used in food and beverage processing environments. The role involves maintaining temperature-critical assets such as cold rooms, chillers, compressors, and evaporators, while ensuring compliance with food safety standards (GMP/HACCP) and minimizing downtime.
The technician will be expected to perform hands-on tasks independently, support junior mechanics, and work closely with production and quality teams.
Monitor and operate cooling systems such as walk-in freezers, glycol chillers, air-cooled/water-cooled condensers, and blast chillers.
Ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency through regular parameter checks and system tuning.
Maintain consistent product and zone temperatures based on processing or storage needs.
Conduct scheduled maintenance of compressors, evaporators, valves, sensors, and fans.
Diagnose and repair common faults including refrigerant leaks, pressure imbalances, electrical failures, and defrosting issues.
Maintain refrigerant levels and handle recharging safely in compliance with environmental standards.
Perform work in accordance with GMP, HACCP, and plant hygiene protocols to avoid cross-contamination.
Assist with equipment cleaning protocols and ensure maintenance activities do not compromise food safety.
Log maintenance activities, temperature readings, and repairs in CMMS or maintenance logbooks.
Maintain refrigerant usage logs and leak check documentation.
Support QA and audit teams with refrigeration-related data during inspections.
Support installation, retrofitting, or upgrading of refrigeration systems.
Work with the QA, production, and utilities team to respond to temperature deviations or system alarms.
Guide and assist junior technicians during complex maintenance or shutdowns.
