Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Refrigeration Mechanic to assist in the installation, inspection, and basic maintenance of refrigeration systems used in food and beverage production environments. This entry-level role is designed to provide hands-on experience with cold room units, chillers, evaporators, compressors, and refrigeration piping systems, while ensuring operational support under strict hygiene and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Monitoring & Routine Checks

  • Assist in routine inspections of refrigeration equipment, including cold rooms, walk-in freezers, blast chillers, and beverage cooling systems.

  • Record operating parameters (pressures, temperatures, current readings) and report abnormalities.

2. Basic Maintenance Support

  • Help clean coils, replace worn gaskets, and perform filter and oil checks.

  • Assist senior mechanics during scheduled preventive maintenance.

  • Support refrigerant level checks and leak detection procedures under supervision.

3. Compliance and Hygiene

  • Maintain hygienic practices during maintenance in production and packaging zones.

  • Comply with food safety protocols (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and avoid contamination risks.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Complete maintenance checklists and update logbooks or CMMS entries under guidance.

  • Report faults or unusual system behavior to supervisors or senior technicians.

5. Safety Practices

  • Follow all safety procedures related to refrigerant handling, electrical safety, PPE, and lockout/tagout (LOTO).

  • Assist in preparing the work area, isolating equipment safely, and cleaning up post-maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • ITI or Diploma in Refrigeration, HVAC, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience in industrial refrigeration or food industry utilities.

  • Basic knowledge of cooling cycles, compressors, and evaporators is a plus.


Preferred Skills:

  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced, hygiene-sensitive production environment.

  • Familiarity with tools, gauges, and safety devices used in refrigeration maintenance.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
