The R&D Manager – Sensors and Control Modules is responsible for leading innovation, design, and development of next-generation sensor technologies and control modules used in industrial automation, medical devices, automotive systems, or smart infrastructure. This role manages cross-functional R&D teams and ensures product development aligns with technical strategy, performance requirements, and industry standards.
Lead development of sensing systems (temperature, pressure, proximity, biosensors, flow, optical, etc.) using MEMS, analog, or digital platforms.
Guide selection and integration of sensor materials, packaging, and signal processing techniques.
Drive development of embedded control modules involving microcontrollers, DSPs, analog/digital interfaces, and wireless communication (BLE, Zigbee, LoRa, etc.).
Oversee firmware development, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and control algorithms.
Translate market and customer needs into R&D strategies and technology roadmaps.
Scout emerging technologies and trends in IoT, edge computing, AI/ML-based sensing, and energy harvesting.
Supervise prototyping, rapid iteration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation of sensor systems.
Ensure seamless integration of sensors and control modules into larger electromechanical or automation systems.
Establish test procedures for calibration, environmental durability, EMI/EMC, and functional validation.
Oversee HALT/HASS testing and ensure regulatory compliance (RoHS, REACH, ISO 13485, etc.).
Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and cost optimization.
Work with supply chain and quality teams to evaluate components and vendors.
Manage a multidisciplinary R&D team of electronics engineers, software developers, and test engineers.
Drive Agile or Stage-Gate-based development cycles with clear milestones and deliverables.
Drive patent generation, technical publications, and secure intellectual property for core technologies.
Maintain design histories, BOMs, and documentation for regulatory audits and product certifications.
Interface with internal stakeholders, customers, and partners to capture requirements and provide technical solutions.
Participate in technical presentations, demos, and trade shows.
