Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Quality Control Inspector with advanced expertise in inspecting fabricated sheet metal and structural components. The role involves leading inspection activities, ensuring product quality compliance with industry standards (ASME, AWS, ISO), mentoring junior inspectors, and driving continuous improvement in quality assurance processes.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Advanced Inspection Execution & Oversight

    • Validate dimensional, geometric, and surface finish parameters using advanced tools.

2. Drawing & Specification Mastery

    • Interpret complex fabrication drawings, GD&T, welding symbols, material specifications, and tolerance stack-ups.

    • Guide junior inspectors in understanding and applying drawing requirements.

3. Use of Precision & Advanced Measurement Tools

    • Expert in using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, angle finders, thread gauges, and CMM/laser scanners (if available).

    • Evaluate fit-up, flatness, squareness, and alignment against customer specifications.

4. Defect Identification, Root Cause Analysis & CAPA

    • Identify and classify defects (e.g., weld defects, misalignment, wrong bend angles, non-compliant material).

    • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) using tools like 5 Why, Ishikawa diagrams, and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

5. Documentation, Compliance & Audits

    • Maintain accurate records: inspection reports, NCRs, deviation reports, quality alerts, and calibration logs.

    • Support internal and external audits; ensure adherence to ISO 9001, AWS, ASME, or customer-specific quality systems.

Responsibilities:

    • Lead daily QC activities for fabrication and welding processes.

    • Provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level inspectors.

    • Interface with production, design, and customers on quality-related issues.

    • Ensure inspection readiness for third-party inspections or customer audits.

    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on shop floor quality performance.

Required Qualifications:

    • Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Fabrication Technology, or Quality Engineering.

    • 5–8 years of experience in quality control of fabricated parts (sheet metal and/or structural).

    • Deep knowledge of fabrication processes, material behavior, tolerancing, and welding inspection.

Preferred Skills:

    • Certified knowledge of GD&T, ASME Y14.5, AWS D1.1, or ISO 9001 quality systems.

    • Familiarity with NDT techniques (VT, PT, UT, etc.) and inspection planning.

    • Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/QMS systems, and inspection documentation.

    • Strong team coordination, problem-solving, and mentoring capabilities.
