The Quality Assurance Manager for Turbomachinery Manufacturing will lead and manage the quality assurance processes to ensure that all turbomachinery components and assemblies meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong background in quality systems, inspection techniques, and root cause analysis within a manufacturing environment focused on turbines and related components.
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance policies and procedures specific to turbomachinery manufacturing.
Lead the QA team in conducting inspections, audits, and testing of components such as turbine blades, rotors, nozzles, and disks.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001) and customer requirements.
Coordinate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and improve product reliability.
Oversee non-conformance management, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and root cause analysis.
Manage internal and external audits, including supplier quality audits.
Analyze quality data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective strategies.
Train and mentor QA staff and promote a culture of quality across the organization.
Ensure documentation integrity and traceability of all quality records.
Collaborate with regulatory agencies and support certification processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and reducing defects.
Quality System Management:
Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality management systems (QMS) aligned with AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace industry standards.
Inspection & Testing Oversight:
Lead inspection and testing activities for critical turbine components including blades, rotors, nozzles, and disks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with engineering specifications.
Non-Conformance & CAPA Management:
Oversee non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions to minimize defects and improve product reliability.
Supplier Quality Management:
Manage supplier quality assurance processes, including audits, qualification, and performance monitoring to ensure consistent supply of quality materials and components.
Audit & Compliance:
Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, customer standards, and continuous readiness for certification.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive Lean Six Sigma and other quality improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Team Leadership & Development:
Mentor and develop QA team members, fostering a culture of quality, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
7+ years of experience in quality assurance within turbomachinery or aerospace manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Experience with inspection tools, metrology equipment, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with quality software systems (e.g., SAP QM, Minitab).
Certification such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), CQM (Certified Quality Manager), or equivalent.
Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Knowledge of advanced manufacturing processes and materials used in turbomachinery.
Experience in supplier quality management.
