We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QA/QC Manager – Valves & Pressure Parts to lead and oversee all quality assurance and control activities related to critical pressure components, including industrial valves, piping, and associated mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and enforcing quality systems, managing inspections and testing, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining supplier quality standards. This role is essential to guaranteeing the integrity, reliability, and safety of mechanical components under pressure service.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management System Oversight:
Develop, implement, and maintain a robust QA/QC program in accordance with ASME, API, ISO, and other relevant codes and standards.
Lead internal and external quality audits; ensure non-conformities are documented, analyzed, and resolved.
Maintain detailed quality documentation, procedures, and control plans specific to valves and pressure-retaining equipment.
Inspection & Testing:
Oversee dimensional, visual, and NDE inspections of valves, pressure parts, and welds during fabrication, repair, and installation.
Manage hydrostatic, pneumatic, and functional testing to ensure components meet design and performance specifications.
Approve test plans, ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans), and ensure third-party witness requirements are met.
Supplier Quality Management:
Evaluate and qualify vendors and subcontractors for valve and pressure equipment supply and services.
Monitor supplier performance, conduct source inspections, and resolve quality-related issues in procurement and fabrication.
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) for supplier quality issues.
Compliance & Certification:
Ensure compliance with applicable pressure equipment regulations, including ASME BPVC, PED, API 598/6D/527, and local codes.
Maintain and verify traceability and material certification records (e.g., MTRs, mill certs, welding records).
Support the certification of components through coordination with authorized inspectors and notified bodies.
Team Leadership & Training:
Lead a team of QA/QC inspectors and coordinators.
Provide technical training and mentoring on inspection techniques, standards, and documentation.
Foster a strong quality culture and drive continuous improvement across projects and operations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with engineering, maintenance, operations, and procurement teams to integrate quality into design and execution.
Participate in project reviews, risk assessments, and root cause investigations.
Report on quality KPIs, inspection results, and audit findings to senior leadership.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
Additional certifications in quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) are preferred.
Experience:
7–10 years of QA/QC experience in industrial or process environments, with at least 3 years focused on valves, pressure vessels, or piping systems.
Experience with valve inspection standards (API 598, API 6D, MSS-SP) and pressure part testing requirements.
Strong background in fabrication shop, field inspection, and supplier quality assurance.
Skills:
Deep knowledge of pressure component codes, standards, and inspection methods (VT, PT, MT, RT, UT).
Familiarity with welding standards (ASME IX, AWS D1.1) and welder qualification processes.
Strong communication, report-writing, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with quality documentation systems, CMMS, and inspection management software.
Preferred Certifications:
API 510/570/577/598
ASNT Level II or III in NDT disciplines (UT, PT, MT, RT)
ASME Authorized Inspector (AI) credentials or equivalent
