We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented QC Technician with intermediate experience in welding inspection and dimensional verification to support quality assurance activities at a power plant facility. The role involves performing routine QC inspections on welded joints, fabricated structures, and piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Conduct in-process and post-weld visual inspections for defects, alignment, and compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
Verify pre-weld fit-up, joint cleanliness, and correct welding parameters.
Ensure proper welding consumable storage and handling procedures are followed.
Perform accurate dimensional inspections using tools such as calipers, micrometers, tapes, and levels.
Verify orientation, alignment, and critical measurements on structural and piping components.
Compare measured data with fabrication drawings and tolerance limits.
Maintain detailed QC checklists, inspection reports, and weld logs.
Track welder performance records and support traceability of welds and materials.
Coordinate with NDT personnel for required testing and follow-up on results.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and relevant ISO/ANSI standards.
Understand inspection hold points, ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), and acceptance criteria.
Support internal and third-party audits and participate in quality walkdowns.
Liaise with fabrication, welding, and engineering teams to resolve QC-related issues.
Enforce safety practices during inspection activities and report any hazards.
Mentor junior QC assistants in measurement techniques and inspection protocols.

Education:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or equivalent
Certified Welding Inspector (CSWIP 3.0/3.1, AWS-CWI, or equivalent) preferred
Experience:
3–6 years of experience in QC inspection roles within power plants or heavy industry
Hands-on experience with welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and structural/mechanical fit-up
Skills:
Proficient in reading fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and ITPs
Skilled in using inspection instruments and maintaining quality records
Strong understanding of fabrication standards and QA/QC protocols
Good communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
