We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior QC Technician to assist in quality control activities focused on welding inspection and dimensional verification within a power plant fabrication or construction setting. This entry-level position is ideal for candidates who have basic technical training in welding inspection or mechanical measurement and are eager to gain field experience under the guidance of senior QA/QC staff.
Support senior QC personnel in visual inspection of welds for surface defects such as cracks, porosity, and undercuts.
Record basic weld parameters (e.g., welder ID, joint type, process used) in QC logbooks.
Assist in verifying welding consumables and base materials against WPS and project specifications.
Use measuring tools (tape, vernier caliper, micrometer) to perform basic dimensional checks on fabricated parts, piping spools, and structural elements.
Compare as-built measurements with fabrication drawings and report deviations.
Ensure correct orientation, alignment, and positioning prior to welding.
Help maintain inspection records, checklists, and dimensional control sheets.
Support in filing welder qualification records and NDT request forms.
Tag and mark components as per inspection status (accepted/rejected/hold).
Adhere to all safety protocols while performing inspection tasks in the shop or field.
Report unsafe conditions or non-conformities to supervisors.
Participate in toolbox talks and QC briefings.
Learn inspection standards such as ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, and ISO welding quality norms.
Gain familiarity with NDT processes like PT, MT, UT, and RT.
Observe and support QC engineers during audits and surveillance activities.
Supporting welding and dimensional inspection tasks

Learning codes, standards, and inspection techniques
Ensuring safety and compliance in QC processes
Education:
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or equivalent
Training in welding inspection or quality control (preferred)
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in welding inspection or fabrication QA/QC (internship/apprenticeship acceptable)
Skills:
Basic understanding of welding types and fabrication processes
Ability to read simple drawings and use measuring tools
Keen attention to detail and willingness to learn inspection procedures
Good communication and teamwork skills
