The Mid-Level QA/QC Supervisor – Boiler Code Compliance is responsible for supervising quality control and code compliance activities related to boiler manufacturing, repair, and pressure part maintenance. This role ensures that all mechanical work complies with applicable standards including ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (Sections I, IV, V, IX), NBIC, and relevant site or jurisdictional requirements.
Supervise inspections of welding, fabrication, and repairs on boilers, headers, steam drums, and associated pressure parts.
Review and approve WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records), and welder qualifications per ASME Section IX.
Monitor welding activities, NDE (RT, UT, PT, MT), hydrostatic testing, and dimensional verification during fabrication and maintenance.
Ensure documentation for material traceability, weld maps, and inspection reports are complete and aligned with code requirements.
Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies, Authorized Inspectors (AI), and jurisdictional bodies for hold points and certifications.
Implement QA/QC plans and inspection test plans (ITPs) for boiler repair, construction, and retrofit activities.
Identify and document non-conformities, propose corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution.
Support root cause analysis and corrective action for welding defects, code deviations, or inspection failures.
Maintain code compliance audit readiness and support internal/external audits.
Train and guide junior QA/QC inspectors and field welding personnel on code requirements and inspection techniques.
Boiler Code Compliance Oversight
Ensure all boiler-related work adheres to ASME, NBIC, and local code regulations.
QA/QC Supervision & Field Control
Oversee in-field QA/QC activities including welding inspection, fit-up, NDE, and documentation.
Documentation & Traceability
Ensure complete documentation of material certificates, weld maps, inspection checklists, and quality records.
Coordination with AIs & Inspectors
Liaise with Authorized Inspectors (AI) and third-party agencies during inspections and certifications.
Non-Conformance Management
Detect, report, and resolve quality issues and deviations from codes and project specifications.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or related field.
5–8 years of experience in boiler QA/QC or mechanical inspection, including work in code-regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of ASME BPVC Sections I, IV, V, IX, and NBIC code requirements.
Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, weld symbols, and P&IDs.
Hands-on experience with pressure part inspections, NDE processes, and code documentation.
AWS-CWI, CSWIP 3.1/3.2, or equivalent welding inspector certification
API 510, NBIC “R” Stamp knowledge preferred
Training in NDE Level II (RT, UT, MT, PT) preferred
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills
Proficiency in quality reporting tools and MS Office / QA software
Ability to lead teams and interface with engineers, contractors, and inspectors effectively
