Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior QA/QC Supervisor – Boiler Code Compliance assists in the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and control activities related to the fabrication, inspection, and repair of boiler and pressure components. This role supports compliance with ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code (Sections I, IV, V, and IX), NBIC, and internal standards. It is ideal for a technically inclined candidate seeking growth in boiler QA/QC operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the inspection of welds, pressure parts, and fabrication work on steam boilers and related systems.

  • Support the preparation and maintenance of code documentation, traveler sheets, material certificates, and weld maps.

  • Coordinate with production, maintenance, and third-party inspectors to ensure quality objectives are met.

  • Perform basic non-destructive examination (NDE) coordination, such as visual inspections and thickness checks.

  • Support the review of WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records), and WPQs (Welder Performance Qualifications).

  • Participate in the implementation of quality checklists, hold-point inspections, and mechanical test verification.

  • Ensure proper identification and traceability of boiler materials, consumables, and welding activities.

  • Help maintain QA/QC records for audits, ASME/NBIC code reviews, and regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor contractor or in-house welders for adherence to approved welding practices.

  • Promote and follow safety, housekeeping, and permit-to-work procedures during QA/QC activities.


Key Focus Areas:

  1. Code Compliance Assistance

    • Support compliance with ASME BPVC (Sections I, IV, V, IX) and NBIC standards during fabrication or repairs.

  2. Documentation & Recordkeeping

    • Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate quality records, material traceability logs, and inspection reports.

  3. Visual & Dimensional Inspection Support

    • Participate in visual inspections of welds and dimensional checks of boiler components.

  4. Welding Supervision Support

    • Help verify proper usage of welding consumables, filler materials, and welding process adherence.

  5. Learning QA/QC Best Practices

    • Develop familiarity with QA/QC procedures, NDE methods, and boiler regulatory codes.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, or equivalent.

  • 0–2 years of experience in QA/QC or mechanical inspection roles within fabrication, maintenance, or boiler-related industries.

  • Basic understanding of boiler construction, welding symbols, and pressure part components.

  • Familiarity with ASME BPVC, NBIC, and material standards (ASTM, ASME).

  • Working knowledge of inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and MS Office for reporting.


Preferred Skills:

  • Internship or project work in boiler inspection, welding QA/QC, or thermal power plant maintenance.

  • Exposure to WPS, PQR, and NDE documentation.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn codes and compliance procedures.

  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
