We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Pump & Valve Mechanic to lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pumps and valve systems at a water treatment facility. This leadership role is responsible for executing complex mechanical tasks, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical infrastructure.
Advanced Maintenance & Repairs
Perform expert-level maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a wide range of pumps (centrifugal, submersible, positive displacement) and valves (control, butterfly, check, gate, and ball valves).
Diagnose complex mechanical issues and implement corrective actions to restore equipment to optimal condition.
Lead major pump rebuilds, valve retrofits, and precision alignments with minimal oversight.
Installation & Commissioning
Oversee and participate in the installation of pumps, valves, and associated piping systems during capital projects or system upgrades.
Ensure proper alignment, anchoring, torque specifications, and startup testing are executed according to technical and safety standards.
Validate equipment performance post-installation and ensure all documentation is complete.
Leadership & Training
Supervise and mentor junior and mid-level mechanics, providing technical guidance and on-the-job training.
Lead teams during critical shutdowns, outages, and emergency repairs.
Share best practices, ensure adherence to SOPs, and contribute to skill development across the team.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all safety procedures (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space entry, PPE use).
Promote a culture of safety through leadership and by identifying and addressing potential hazards.
Maintain detailed records of work activities, inspections, and incident reports using CMMS.
Collaboration & Technical Support
Work closely with engineering, operations, and asset management teams to improve reliability and performance.
Recommend equipment upgrades or maintenance improvements based on failure trends or performance reviews.
Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures and standards.
Leading complex pump and valve maintenance efforts
Supervising mechanical teams and mentoring staff
Supporting critical projects and shutdown execution
Ensuring high standards of safety, documentation, and compliance
Education:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or technical certification in mechanical maintenance or industrial systems strongly preferred
Experience:
7+ years of mechanical maintenance experience with pumps and valves in water, wastewater, or similar industrial environments
Proven leadership experience supervising maintenance crews or projects
Skills:
Expert knowledge of pump/valve operation, repair techniques, alignment, and testing
Skilled in reading technical drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical schematics
Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills
Competency in using precision tools, CMMS, and vibration/flow diagnostic equipment
Excellent leadership, communication, and safety advocacy
