The Senior Pump and Piping Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of pump stations, fluid handling equipment, and associated piping systems. This role leads multidisciplinary engineering efforts across capital projects, operational upgrades, and maintenance strategies. The incumbent ensures reliability, efficiency, and compliance with codes and safety standards for fluid transport systems.
Lead detailed engineering and design of pump systems, piping layouts, valve assemblies, and hydraulic networks.
Perform hydraulic modeling, pressure drop calculations, and pump system curve analysis.
Review and approve piping isometrics, P&IDs, GA drawings, and 3D models.
Develop technical specifications and datasheets for centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, valves, and associated equipment.
Oversee technical evaluation of vendor bids and support procurement processes.
Ensure selected equipment aligns with service conditions, design intent, and lifecycle requirements.
Provide site leadership during pump installation, alignment, hydrotesting, and commissioning.
Troubleshoot complex issues including cavitation, vibration, seal failure, water hammer, or flow imbalance.
Lead performance testing and acceptance verification of new systems.
Analyze pump reliability data to identify failure patterns and implement performance improvements.
Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for chronic or critical equipment issues.
Optimize operating parameters and recommend upgrades or replacements for aged infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with standards such as API 610, ASME B31.3/B31.1, ISO, ANSI, and OSHA.
Perform engineering assessments and risk evaluations for piping flexibility, anchor forces, and dynamic loads.
Ensure mechanical integrity of high-pressure and high-temperature systems.
Prepare and review engineering reports, technical memoranda, equipment manuals, and O&M documentation.
Guide junior engineers and review their designs for quality and compliance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (civil, process, electrical) on multidisciplinary projects.
