The Junior Prototype Technician – Mechanical Builds supports the development of early-stage automotive prototypes through hands-on mechanical assembly, rework, and component installation. This entry-level role involves assisting in building test fixtures, modifying parts, and assembling prototype vehicles or subsystems under the direction of engineers and senior technicians. The technician contributes to the R&D and product development process by executing mechanical tasks safely and accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the mechanical assembly of prototype vehicles, subsystems, and components.
Support installation, fitting, and alignment of parts such as brackets, mounts, chassis components, and mechanical interfaces.
Follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and verbal guidance from engineering or senior technicians.
Perform basic fabrication, drilling, cutting, and deburring of prototype parts.
Support teardown and documentation of parts for analysis and testing feedback.
Maintain workshop cleanliness, tool organization, and proper use of safety equipment.
Report part issues, missing components, or quality concerns to lead technicians or engineers.
Participate in technical training to build mechanical skills and product knowledge.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical certificate or enrollment in a mechanical/automotive program preferred
Experience:
0–2 years of experience in mechanical assembly or workshop/lab environments
Internship or vocational training in automotive or mechanical trades is a plus
Technical Skills:
Basic mechanical aptitude and tool handling
Ability to read simple drawings or diagrams
