The Senior Process Instrumentation Supervisor leads the end-to-end management of instrumentation systems supporting mixing, baking, and cooking equipment. The role focuses on instrument reliability, compliance, team leadership, and integration with automation systems to maintain product quality and food safety standards in high-volume food production.
Lead the inspection, calibration, preventive maintenance, and life-cycle management of critical process instruments (temperature, pressure, flow, level, weight).
Own the instrumentation database and ensure traceable calibration records in compliance with HACCP, GMP, FSMA, and ISO 22000 standards.
Manage instrumentation scope during capital projects, plant upgrades, and automation migrations.
Oversee installation, loop-checking, commissioning, and validation of instruments in collaboration with controls engineers and vendors.
Review and approve P&IDs, instrument index, loop drawings, I/O lists, and calibration specifications.
Lead root cause analysis for recurrent faults, signal errors, or inconsistent process feedback.
Analyze trends in SCADA/DCS/PLC data to proactively identify potential issues.
Drive improvements in process accuracy, efficiency, and instrument reliability.
Supervise and mentor junior and mid-level instrumentation technicians and supervisors.
Develop training programs for calibration practices, troubleshooting methods, and SOP adherence.
Enforce EHS, hygiene, and food-grade maintenance protocols.
Interface with QA, production, automation, and audit teams to ensure compliance and plant uptime.
Support internal/external audits and regulatory inspections involving instrumentation records.
Contribute to continuous improvement (CI/Kaizen/Lean) projects focused on process instrumentation.
Ownership of all process instrumentation in mixing, baking, and cooking zones
Calibration and compliance leadership for regulatory and food safety audits
Troubleshooting and fault diagnostics across multi-discipline systems
Instrumentation integration with PLC, SCADA, and batch control systems
Project management for instrumentation scopes during upgrades or expansions
Team supervision, skill development, and performance oversight
B.Tech or Diploma in Instrumentation / Electronics / Mechatronics Engineering
7+ years experience in food manufacturing with strong exposure to thermal processing systems
Expert in working with instrumentation from Emerson, Endress+Hauser, Siemens, ABB, IFM, etc.
Proficient with HART, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, and analog/digital signal troubleshooting
Strong understanding of batch process control logic, loop tuning, and sensor validation
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks like FDA/FSMA, ISO 22000, GFSI, and internal audit systems
