The Process Equipment Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the reliability and maintainability of critical process equipment within manufacturing operations. This role leads root cause failure analyses, develops maintenance strategies, and partners with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to optimize equipment uptime and lifecycle costs. The engineer applies reliability engineering principles to pumps, valves, tanks, conveyors, and other process machinery, with a focus on food-safe and hygienic environments.
Analyze equipment performance and failure data to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.
Lead root cause failure investigations and coordinate corrective and preventive action implementation.
Develop, optimize, and support preventive and predictive maintenance programs tailored to process equipment.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to improve equipment reliability and production performance.
Assist in asset lifecycle management including maintenance plans, spare parts optimization, and equipment upgrades.
Utilize CMMS and reliability software to track maintenance activities and generate reliability reports.
Support capital projects by reviewing equipment specifications, commissioning new process assets, and ensuring maintainability.
Apply reliability tools such as FMEA, RCA, and reliability modeling to drive continuous improvement.
Contribute to compliance with food safety, GMP, and regulatory standards relevant to process equipment.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline
Experience:
3 to 5 years of reliability, maintenance, or process engineering experience in food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar manufacturing settings
Proven experience with equipment reliability improvements and root cause analysis
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of process equipment (pumps, valves, conveyors, tanks) and hygienic design principles
Proficiency with CMMS and reliability tools (RCA, FMEA)
Understanding of food safety (FDA, USDA, FSMA) and GMP compliance
Soft Skills:
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or within a team
