Process Automation and Control Engineer

The Senior Process Automation and Control Engineer will lead the design, execution, and lifecycle support of advanced automation systems in process environments. This role involves project leadership, technical architecture, system integration, compliance oversight, and mentoring of junior and mid-level engineers. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering robust, validated automation solutions aligned with operational, quality, and business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement PLC/SCADA/DCS systems for complex manufacturing and process automation projects.

• Develop, review, and validate FDS, SDS, FAT/SAT documents, and control logic architectures.

• Lead and manage full project life cycles – from requirement gathering to commissioning and post-installation support.

• Oversee the integration of process instruments, control panels, drives, and industrial networks.

• Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and participate in HAZOP, design FMEA, and change control.

• Provide technical direction to project teams and act as a subject matter expert (SME) in automation technology.

• Ensure strict compliance with GMP, EHS, cybersecurity, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity requirements.

• Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement in automation performance and reliability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams: process, electrical, IT, quality, and operations.

Key Focus Areas:

1. Control System Design & Architecture

   • Expertise in:

     • Designing complex PLC/HMI/SCADA architectures

     • Developing robust, modular, and validated control logic

     • Programming with Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, or DCS platforms

2. Project & Technical Leadership

   • Lead:

     • End-to-end automation projects

     • Team mentoring, training, and code reviews

     • Vendor coordination, resource planning, and cost control

3. Instrumentation & Field Integration

   • Advanced knowledge in:

     • Analog/digital field instrumentation

     • Drives, control valves, VFDs, and bus communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, EtherNet/IP)

4. FAT/SAT, Commissioning & Validation

   • Responsible for:

     • Developing and executing FAT/SAT and IQ/OQ protocols

     • Leading commissioning teams, ensuring client satisfaction and regulatory compliance

5. Compliance, Cybersecurity & Data Integrity

   • Ensure:

     • Alignment with GMP, GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11

     • Secure architectures meeting OT cybersecurity standards (ISA/IEC 62443)

6. Process Optimization & Digital Transformation

   • Drive:

     • SCADA dashboards, reporting systems, OEE improvements

     • Support for MES/ERP integration, IIoT and Industry 4.0 readiness

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • B.E. / B.Tech / M.Tech in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering

• Experience:

  • 7–12+ years in automation project delivery, process control, and system design

• Technical Expertise:

  • Advanced skills in:

    • PLCs (Siemens S7/TIA, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix)

    • SCADA/HMI systems (WinCC, iFIX, FactoryTalk, Wonderware)

    • Network architecture: VLANs, OPC UA/DA, MQTT, Industrial Ethernet

    • Compliance documentation and regulatory support

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership, project ownership, and communication

  • Client handling, proposal input, and technical presentations

  • Collaborative mindset and mentoring ability
