The Senior Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician is responsible for leading the execution, optimization, and improvement of preventive maintenance activities for mechanical systems and utility equipment. This role ensures that all PM tasks are completed efficiently, in compliance with technical and safety standards, and aligned with asset management goals. The technician also mentors junior staff, coordinates with planners and engineers, and supports reliability-centered maintenance initiatives.
Advanced Preventive Maintenance Execution
Independently perform comprehensive PM on critical mechanical assets including pumps, compressors, blowers, HVAC units, turbines, valves, and rotating machinery.
Use diagnostic tools (e.g., vibration analyzers, thermal cameras, ultrasonic testers) to monitor asset condition and identify early signs of failure.
PM Program Leadership
Review, refine, and optimize PM routines based on equipment history and manufacturer recommendations.
Assist in developing PM checklists, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and job plans.
Troubleshooting & Repair Support
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring PM-related issues; recommend corrective measures.
Coordinate with corrective maintenance teams for minor repairs or replacements during PM work.
Documentation & CMMS Management
Ensure accurate documentation of all PM activities in the CMMS (e.g., SAP, Maximo), including asset conditions, parts used, and downtime avoided.
Provide feedback to planners and reliability engineers on PM effectiveness and asset performance trends.
Team Mentoring & Coordination
Mentor and train junior and mid-level PM technicians in equipment care and safety practices.
Lead small teams during plant shutdowns and major preventive maintenance campaigns.
Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Promote adherence to EHS standards including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and chemical handling.
Participate in audits, safety observations, and continuous improvement initiatives for PM processes.
