The Mid-Level Plant Mechanical Supervisor leads and coordinates maintenance activities for critical mechanical systems—specifically centrifugal and positive-displacement pumps, industrial compressors, and HVAC equipment. This role manages a team of technicians to execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, drives reliability initiatives, and collaborates with operations and engineering to optimize uptime and energy efficiency.
Maintenance Planning & Scheduling
Develop and oversee weekly and monthly maintenance schedules in the CMMS, balancing planned work with operations demands.
Coordinate planned outages and maintenance windows for pumps, compressors, chillers, AHUs, and ductwork.
Team Leadership & Development
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate 5–8 maintenance technicians; identify training needs and conduct advanced skills workshops (alignment, balancing, controls troubleshooting).
Lead toolbox talks and foster a continuous-improvement culture.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Implement and refine condition-monitoring programs: vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic inspections.
Optimize PM routes and frequencies based on failure data and reliability targets.
Reliability & Root-Cause Analysis
Lead structured troubleshooting (5-Why, Fishbone) for recurring failures; develop and track corrective action plans.
Drive small-scale reliability projects—dynamic balancing, seal upgrades, piping modifications—to extend asset life.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Track and analyze KPIs: MTTR, MTBF, planned vs. unplanned maintenance ratio, energy consumption.
Produce monthly performance dashboards and present insights to plant leadership.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
Enforce LOTO, PTW, and other EHS protocols; conduct regular safety audits of mechanical systems.
Ensure maintenance work meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Spare Parts & Vendor Coordination
Manage critical-spare inventories for pumps, compressor components, belts, filters, and HVAC consumables.
Coordinate vendor service calls and oversee contractor performance for specialized repairs.
Condition-Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance Programs
Structured Root-Cause Analysis & Reliability Projects
CMMS Optimization & Maintenance Data Integrity
Team Coaching & Technical Skill Upgrading
Shutdown/Turnaround Coordination for Mechanical Systems
Energy-Efficiency Initiatives for Compressors & HVAC
Safety Leadership & Regulatory Compliance
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field.
4–7 years of mechanical maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role managing pumps, compressors, and HVAC.
Proficient with CMMS (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) and condition-monitoring tools (vibration, thermography).
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities
Advanced mechanical troubleshooting and analytical skills
Proficiency in reliability methodologies and KPI analysis
Excellent organizational and project-management abilities
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
