To supervise and coordinate the mechanical maintenance activities of the plant to ensure high equipment reliability, operational safety, and minimal downtime. This role is responsible for leading maintenance teams, executing preventive maintenance plans, and supporting plant productivity through efficient mechanical upkeep.
Supervision of Maintenance Activities:
Oversee daily mechanical maintenance tasks and ensure proper execution by the team.
Allocate work and monitor technician performance during shifts.
Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance:
Execute and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical equipment.
Lead and troubleshoot during emergency breakdowns to restore equipment quickly.
Equipment Reliability & Efficiency:
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of repeated failures and implement corrective actions.
Work toward reducing Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and increasing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
Team Management:
Lead, train, and motivate a team of mechanical technicians.
Ensure adherence to standard maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
Inventory & Spare Parts Control:
Monitor and manage mechanical spares inventory to ensure availability.
Coordinate with the stores and procurement for timely material requisition and issue.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all mechanical maintenance work complies with safety regulations and internal standards.
Conduct toolbox talks and enforce use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain updated maintenance logs, reports, and records using CMMS or ERP systems.
Submit daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance performance and downtime reports.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with production, electrical, instrumentation, and utility teams for maintenance scheduling.
Participate in shutdown planning, installation, and commissioning activities.

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
5–8 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or process plant
At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead technician role
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair knowledge
Team leadership and task delegation
Understanding of plant utilities and mechanical systems (pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, etc.)
Knowledge of safety protocols and maintenance standards
Familiarity with CMMS or ERP-based maintenance tracking
Good communication and reporting abilities
